Brussels, 12 June 2007 - This year's Caritas Europa Regional Conference was held in Rome on the occasion of the Caritas Internationalis 18th General Assembly. The Conference was divided into two sessions held on 1 June and 6 June.
The first session was dedicated to vote on the approval of the reports from the President, the Secretary General, and the Treasurer of Caritas Europa respectively; the approval of some statute modifications; the election of the internal auditors for the mandate 2007-2010; the approval of holding the next Regional Conference 2008 in Bled (Slovenia) on 21-24 May; and finally, the approval of the date for the Regional Conference 2009 which will take place in Brussels on 15 May.
The second session of the Conference, held on 6 June, formed an integral part of the statutory sessions of Caritas Internationalis 18th General Assembly.
The Caritas Europa Regional Conference had to fulfil a series of statutory tasks such as the election and/or ratification of the Regional President and of the regional representatives to the Caritas Internationalis Executive Committee; to discus the proposed strategic framework, as well as the proposed Budgetary Plan; and to deliberate on the Regionï¿½s contribution to the international activities of the Confederation.
The election of the Regional President and of the regional representatives to the Caritas Internationalis Executive Committee had already taken place during the Regional Conference 2006. The Regional Conference 2007 unanimously ratified the results of that election:

As approved, the next Regional Conference will take place in Bled (Slovenia) on 21-24 May 2008.
