  • Debate: The Grand Bargain - implementing a humanitarian deal to leave no one behind
1 of 1

About the event

The Grand Bargain was launched at the World Humanitarian Summit 2016. This deal between major donors and operational actors aims at increasing the efficiency and effectiveness of humanitarian aid. The debate at the EDD will focus on key chapters of the Grand Bargain, such as the impact of administrative simplification, the importance of multi-year planning and funding, and the opportunities that arise with the localisation of aid.

Caritas is contributing to the debate on localisation, which is about fudning the local partners directly with no intermediaries in the process. Thanks to the efforts of CAFOD (Caritas England and Wales) and Trócaire (Caritas Ireland), Caritas will be represented by Dr. Win Tun Kyi, National Director of Caritas Myanmar, who will share good practices of localisation in Myanmar.

The other speakers are Julian Srodecki - World Vision International, Androulla Kaminara - Director of DG ECHO Directorate C, and Alexander Sultan-Khan, Desk Officer, Federal Foreign Office of Germany (Auswärtiges Amt).

Caritas Europa is co-organising this event along with NGO-Voice, Action Contre la Faim, World Vision, Geramn Humanitarian Assistance, and DG ECHO.
