Caritas Europa’s Secretary General Jorge Nuño Mayer will bring Caritas’ experience to the discussion that bishops and delegates from Europe’s Bishops’ Conferences with responsibility for the pastoral care of migrants will hold in Madrid on 26-27 September 2016.

“I think  that this meeting of the Council of European Bishops’ Conferences on welcoming and integrating migrants is really important. It shows that the Church in Europe is working together in one direction and that it is sharing the different layers of the migration challenge in the different countries. The presence of Caritas – the tenderness of the Church - is crucial. It shows the hands-on work in the last year and in the last decades, that welcoming and integration is not just about touchy-feelings, but success stories. Mercy is the common spirit, on which old Europeans and newcomers shall build the common home,” said Secretary General Jorge Nuño Mayer.

The full programme is available on the CCEE website.

A news release will be published on the morning of Wednesday 28 September.
