A Charity Carol

Caritas Czech Republic held the eighteenth edition of Tříkrálová sbírka (Three-Kings collection): the largest volunteer event in the Czech Republic.

According to the tradition, the three-king carolers walk from house to house and bring people joyful messages about the arrival of God’s love to the world, offering people the opportunity to spread this love further.

The proceeds of the collection go to help people with disabilities, elderly, mothers with children in distress and other groups of people in need especially in the Czech regions where the event  is taking place.

In addition, one tenth of the proceeds of the collection are spent each year to support development projects abroad (i.e. to sustain livelihoods, to develop health service, or to support education) or as fund to assist humanitarian disasters.

This year the event involved 60 thousands of carolers. Caritas Czech Republic commenting on the achievements said that more than 4.44 mil. Euro has been raised only via carolers!

The great outcome of this event demonstrates both that it is possible to use charity to make a difference for those in need and that volunteers do play a crucial role as they are the real change makers. They lighten people’s hearts and improve the lives of many disadvantaged people.

Congratulations to our friends in Caritas Czech Republic and to all those who took part in this annual initiative.
