Social Europe

APRIL 2019

At Caritas we work for a social Europe that leaves no one behind. In the frame of the upcoming European Parliament elections, this newsletter reflects about social policies at the EU and Member State levels. We believe these policies must take into consideration the vulnerability and potential of people experiencing poverty and social exclusion. We believe that when the rights of the most vulnerable are protected, they can thrive, be active in our communities and contribute to the common good. The EU and its Member States have a crucial responsibility in ensuring respect for human dignity and social rights of all.

From a summary of the steps forward taken by the outgoing EP by MEP Veronica Lope Fontagné to the testimony from Caritas staff in Portugal, this newsletter is an invitation to look forward to an inclusive and social Europe.
