4 months after a series of intensive earthquakes fully destroyed several villages in northern Italy, Caritas Italy continues to serve the over 18,000 people who are still living in temporary shelters.

Since the beginning of this emergency, Caritas’ solidarity from Europe and the whole world has been accompanying Caritas Italy’s important relief work.

Caritas Europa is in dialogue with Caritas Italy to listen to the affected people, understand their situation and raise visibility of the challenges and actions. In this context, Jorge Nuño Mayer, Secretary General of Caritas Europa, will visit Arquata del Tranto in the quake-battered region, and will meet Caritas Italy’s Director of the International Department Paolo Beccegato to concretise the action plan.
