European Caritas organisations are constantly involved in emergency relief actions across the globe. They put in place relief programmes to help the victims of disasters to survive the transition phase from catastrophe to recovery and restore their lives.
Humanitarian needs are on the rise. Natural disasters and men-made conflicts have devastating consequences on the populations affected and the need to react is always inmediate to prevent further casualties. The humanitarian challenge is therefore to timely provide large populations with water, food, shelter, medical and sanitation facilities in sufficient numbers and adequate quality.
