Knowledge Management:

tools for Caritas

Tools
Electronic tools are important in today’s globalised world. They help to mind the physical distance. Such a tool is  Caritas Internationalis’ community platform Baobab. Francesca Frezza, who is in charge of managing the platform showed how it contributes to the confederation’s management of knowledge.

In the global confederation there are a series of needs related to knowledge management that the Secretariat of Caritas Internationalis needs to tackle, such as facilitating the search of experts across the world or enabling Caritas organisations to share content across the confederation. The response to these needs is an online Caritas community platform called Baobab. Today, the platform offers a wide range of tools to manage, exchange and share information. The platform is also available as an app that works perfectly and very smoothly on mobile devices.

The Mapping System Caritas Europa’s e-tool contribution to the network. It is a database that gathers information about activities and expertise from Caritas organisations in Europe.
