Introducing Strategy and Governance
Why is this important?
This pillar is fundamental, as there is little assurance of KM success without attending to accountability, oversight and leadership. It is at the level of strategy development, management and governance that interactions, gaps and synergies can be revealed across the other pillar domains of People, Processes and Systems.
Expressions of strategy will vary according to each organisation’s context and capacity. For example, it might manifest as a strategic framework, a cross-organisational improvement plan or a strategic thinking workshop.
Regardless of how your organisation presents or structures its strategy, effective governance and management is critical. Sustained engagement and oversight by key stakeholders will provide direction, drive change and ensure adaptations to organisational structures or processes.
