Why is this important?
Whilst Knowledge Management is about managing and relating to people, culture and organisational processes, the modern era requires the use of systems to support and enhance KM practice. Indeed, digitally transformed organisations benefit from connected workflows and networked structures and are better placed to make informed decisions based on sound, readily available data.
Many digital tools support organisations and networks to learn and share, facilitate interaction, exchange ideas and store knowledge in both structured and unstructured ways in view of gaining insight into the impact of their work. However, given the sheer volume of platforms, systems and technologies available, it is vital to ensure that systems and technologies used to manage organisational knowledge are fit for purpose, appropriate and user-friendly.
