Ruchika’s story #whatishome
Home to me is to feel safe and where I can be myself.
My name is Ruchika (26). I came to Brussels a little over three years ago to work for a bank. I fell in love with the working culture, the friendliness and courteousness.
I’ve lived in India for more than 20 years. I have not forgotten my roots but at the same time I’ve tried to blend in the culture here which is that of inclusion!
I like living abroad. It changes your perspective of what life can be and drives you out of your comfort zone.
This brief testimony was collected by Caritas International Belgium when they asked people who have had to/chosen to leave their homes what home means to them now. Other resources by Caritas International Belgium for the #whatishome campaign can be found here in French and in Dutch.
