Good children deserve presents! Between 6 and 31 December 2021, Caritas Moldova invited donors to participate in their winter campaign to collect educational games for children in need.

These were delivered as presents to children from vulnerable families in the Care and Support Centers in Zîrnești, Petropavlovka, Tiraspol and Rașcov.

During the winter holidays, ‘Santa Caritas’, as the initiative is called, the children’s only hope to receive games as a gift, helping them interact with their friends and entertain and educate themselves. Caritas Moldova collected board games for children aged 6 to 16 years old, in Romanian, Russian and English, and gave them to the centres’ teachers and staff to be handed over to the families in need.

People who help people

In the 2021 winter campaign, Caritas Moldova also focused on providing direct help to approximately 250 vulnerable adults and people in need listed in the SAFE socio-medical national project. Under the slogan ‘We are people who help people!’ Caritas Moldova distributed essential goods to those who needed a moment of joy due to difficult living conditions, loneliness and discrimination. Caritas Moldova invited all people willing to help to donate food and hygiene products as valuable gifts for the beneficiaries, who, particularly at this time of the year, appreciated such a humane gesture.

The hygiene products collected for 50 adults included diapers, liquid laundry detergent, toilet paper, hand detergent, liquid soap, shampoo, soft toothbrush, toilet tablets, household hygiene chemicals, wet wipes, disinfectant and dish gel.

The food products collected included tea, biscuits/pretzels, buckwheat, barley, rice, semolina, peas, puppet flour, pasta, sugar, oil, pastries, preserves (meat, vegetables, berries). And even more goods were delivered to others in need, helping them by providing enough essential goods during the festive period.
