Caritas Europa joins other civil society organisations in calling on European leaders to maintain funding for external action.

Caritas Europa signed on to a response by civil society organisations to the recent negotiations on the Multiannual Financial Framework (MFF), which include a disappointing outcome for external financing, including humanitarian assistance. This proposal to redeploy financing from the Neighbourhood, Development and International Cooperation Instrument (NDICI) goes against the budgetary rules and principles set out in the NDICI regulation, puts the EU’s relationship with strategic partner countries at risk, and damages the EU’s credibility as a global actor. We urge European leaders to reverse course on these proposals.
