Caritas welcomes the imminent adoption of the EU Work-Life Balance Directive and urges the Council to stand with families.

As demographic structures and mothers’ and fathers’ family roles change, it is important that the EU support their evolving needs. Caritas Europa worked closely with co-legislators to ensure that the Directive encouraged equality between women and men, through measures such as parental leave and flexible working arrangements. The legislation should help working parents and working carers to keep their jobs. Alongside our partners in this project, we have made great strides for families and hope that Member States will swiftly transpose the law into national legislation.
