Young Caritas report on Regional Conference

Since 2016, Caritas Europa has taken several big steps to develop a youth engagement movement among its members. For example, during the most important network events, like the Regional Conferences, youth delegates from all around Europe participate in the debates about how to orientate the work of Caritas organisations in the future. Youth are the future! But they are often excluded from the decision making processes. That’s why Caritas Europa has been supporting grassroots initiatives on youth engagement and created a specific task force called Caritas Europa Youth Engagement Working Group. Since 2019, Caritas Europa has had a youth officer in the secretariat, is dedicating funds for youth work and has set up dedicated social media channels such as the Young Caritas Europa Facebook Page. All these initiatives have borne fruit and youth engagement is increasingly mainstreamed in Caritas Europa.
